Make sure that your information and techniques are up-to-date
As was pointed out in a recent site build it review, the Internet is a fast changing marketplace of ideas — techniques and approaches that may have been very effective a mere 10 years ago, may no longer be applicable today. For example, it was very easy in the old days to get a website ranking very highly by engaging in the practice of keyword stuffing — but search engines have improved to the point where that technique is no longer helpful. Or you can take the case of blogs — 10 years ago they were much harder to find, but today there are millions and millions of blog sites. Whenever you get information, make sure that it is up to date and still applicable for today’s Internet environment.
